HumiSeal UV40 coating
HumiSeal UV40 is a high-performance UV-curable Conformal Coating widely used in PCB Assembly, Prototype PCB Assembly, and SMT Assembly for fast, reliable protection of electronic circuits. It belongs to the acrylated polyurethane (urethane) coating family, combining the advantages of both UV curing and polyurethane durability.

What is HumiSeal UV40?
HumiSeal UV40 is a single-component, high-solids, UV-curable conformal coating that becomes tack-free almost instantly when exposed to UV light.
Its key feature is a dual-cure mechanism:
- Primary cure: rapid UV curing for immediate handling
- Secondary cure: moisture curing that completes curing in shadowed or hard-to-reach areas within 2–3 days
This makes it highly suitable for complex PCB designs where UV light cannot reach all areas.
Key properties of HumiSeal UV40
HumiSeal UV40 is designed for high reliability applications, offering a strong balance of performance and production efficiency:
- Fast UV curing (seconds to minutes) for high-speed production
- Excellent chemical resistance (better than acrylic coatings)
- High surface hardness and durability
- Good flexibility, reducing cracking under stress
- Strong moisture protection for harsh environments
- UV fluorescence for easy inspection under UV light
- High solids content (~95%), reducing solvent emissions
Typical coating thickness is 25–125 μm, suitable for most PCB Assembly applications.
It also complies with key standards such as IPC-CC-830, MIL-I-46058C, UL, and RoHS, making it suitable for regulated industries.
Where is HumiSeal UV40 used?
SMT Assembly high-speed production
Due to its rapid UV curing, UV40 is ideal for inline selective coating systems, significantly increasing throughput.
PCB Assembly for industrial electronics
Used in applications requiring chemical resistance and durability, such as control systems and power electronics.
Automotive and aerospace electronics
Its resistance to moisture, chemicals, and thermal stress makes it suitable for harsh environments.
Prototype PCB Assembly
Although usable in prototypes, it is less convenient than acrylic coatings for rework due to its stronger adhesion and durability.
LED and high-density PCBs
The UV cure feature is especially useful for dense boards where fast processing is required.
Advantages in production
Compared to traditional coatings like acrylic:
- Much faster curing → higher production efficiency
- Better chemical and environmental resistance
- Suitable for automation and inline SMT Assembly
- Lower VOC due to high solids formulation
These advantages make UV40 a preferred choice for modern, high-volume PCB manufacturing.
Limitations
- Requires UV curing equipment (higher initial investment)
- More difficult to rework than acrylic coatings
- Shadow areas rely on slower secondary cure
Final insight
HumiSeal UV40 is a next-generation UV-curable conformal coating that combines fast processing with high durability. In PCB Assembly, SMT Assembly, and Prototype PCB Assembly, it is best suited for high-volume production and harsh environments, where speed and reliability are both critical.
